Cool

Welcome to our newsletter.  As we prepare for the spring season and try to pull out of the winter season, we have done some spring cleaning for you.  We eagerly await your arrival with the stocking of our shelves and the testing of our system.

We are here to answer your questions and if we don't have the answer right away, we will do the research and get back to you with an answer.

********HOW PRODUCTS ARE CHOSEN FOR OUR STORE********

We are requested from time to time to bring in different products.  We listen to our customers, this is how we grow and learn.  We do have criteria that we follow or at least try to follow with each product that we consider.  Not all products are strictly animal products and most are either local to the area, made in Wisconsin, or made in the USA.  There are very few products that are foreign, stocked here.  Other criteria include, is it a whole food product, chemical free, pesticide free, unique, handcrafted or does it include by-products that we can't identify?  If we would feed it to one of our animals, use it on one of our animals, sell it to a trusted friend, or eat it ourselves (we each eat different foods, trust us on this...) then we will likely stock it here.  If you would like to see a product that we don't stock, please ask.  If we say a product doesn't meet our standards, ask us why...maybe we have made a mistake, but please ask us to justify our reason and we would be happy to do so for you.

********ZONING FOR CHICKENS********

One question that we have had so far is what are the regulation in Vilas and Oneida County for Chicken raising?  Per the Zoning Commission for Vilas County, you can have a few chickens for yourself for eggs and meat.  However if you need to build a chicken coup, you will need to check on a building permit.  Per the Zoning Commision for Oneida County, you will need to check with Minocqua Town Hall to see if you are zoned for chickens where you live.

********GOOD START FOR CHICKS & TURKEYS********

We do stock the supplies you need to get your chicks or turkeys off to a good start.  With good starter, some extra vitamins, a fresh supply of water and a bit of extra warmth in the beginning you should be off and running. Each bird has special needs so be sure that you have the right stuff to get your bird off to a healthy start.

We have added the Himalayan Salt licks to our product line.  This particular salt has 84 essential trace minerals and is very cost effective.  These can be placed outdoors on the rope that is already attached - on a tree, nail, door, or post or hung indoors.  These are great for horses, cows, goats, sheep, or lamas.  They are rock solid, long lasting and not commonly chewed on but licked. They come in two different sizes to choose from.  We have had positive personal experience with this product!

********PRODUCT INGREDIENTS********

We have been asked to bring in some products in the store for cat and dog foods.  In researching, we found the listing from one of those products:

"Chicken By-Product Meal, Brewers Rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Ground Whole Grain Corn, Animal Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), Soybean Mill Run, Chicken Liver Flavor, Powdered Cellulose, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin E Supplement, vitamins (L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement), Iodized Salt, Calcium Sulfate, Natural Flavor, DL-Methionine, Potassium Citrate, Taurine, Fish Oil, minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid, L-Arginine, Beta-Carotene, Rosemary Extract."

The products we stock in the store, do not have on the ingredient list, by-products, flavorings, and other fillers or at the least they are not the primary ingredients.  They are very cost effective as to how they are utilized by the animals they serve.  We do take your suggestions seriously and we are here to help you.

********DEER SEASON********

Now is the time to be planning for deer and turkey season.  We have an assortment of plot mixes that range from no till to easy plant variety.  Some are hardy mixes that will last for six years. Below is a description of what we have in stock.  All these mixes are field tested just west of the store per our discussion with Antler King so we know they work in this area.  Mostly for our area, the soil is a bit acidic so it is important to test the soil, perhaps add a bit of lime, depending on the mix you choose prior to starting, but then it's up to Mother Nature to do the rest.

-Mega food plot- This will allow you to plant 6-500 square feet food plots, each different.  Plus 6 soil test kits and a DVD

-Trophy Clover Blend- This is a 30% protein diet that will last for 6 years and plants 1/2 acre, best planted in spring or fall.

-No Till Mini Max- A Minimum till that thrives in more acidic soils. This will plant 1/4 acre and last 3-5 years. Plant in spring or fall.

-Bucks N Birds- This is great for Bucks in the Fall and Birds in the spring.  It plants 7500 square feet and comes with its own soil test kit.  Plant in spring or fall.

-Fall/Winter/Spring- Formulated in 2008 and best planted in the Fall, a fast grower and an excellent source of up to 20% protein in winter when other plants are dormant.

-Honey Hole- Best planted in late summer or early fall. After frost plants turn sweet a no till product that are a deer's delight.

-Red Zone- A trophy buck's delight offering forage through all four seasons, best planted May through 60 days before first frost.

-No Sweat- The perfect mix for minimum or no till plots, or logging roads or a place where you cannot use equipment.  This mix is Ph tolernt, easy to establish, shade tolerant and fast growing.

                                                                    ********Rainbow Bridge********

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.  When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.  There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.  There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.  All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.  Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by....

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.  His bright eyes are intent.  His eager body quivers.  Suddenly he beings to run from the group, flying over green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster....

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling togeter in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.  The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your friend, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together........

-Author Unknown, but their message lives on.....
